Georges continues to delight and charm us with his work.

Georges Nasri's oils are handsome, bold and refined, and a strong departure from his light and airy watercolors.
These will appeal to serious collectors of Nasri's work, who have long been asking for the texture, depth and resilience of oils on canvas, while keeping the same romantic joie de vivre conveyed by his watercolors.

This is a mere sampling of watercolors that we have at the gallery, just in from our latest visit with our wonderful artist.  These do not last long, so we recommend that you come in soon if you are interested in building a collection.

Artist Biography

You probably could not spend the day in Provence, going to the market, eating in a restaurant, sipping coffee in a café, and walking the streets, without feeling the presence of Georges Nasri or his graceful, colorful paintings.  He is a permanent fixture of the region, an appreciated citizen who has garnered his share of awards and accolades and whose work hangs in dozens of restaurants and stores.

Georges Nasri won his first national award for painting from the Minister of Culture in Lebanon when he was twelve.  He came to France as a student in 1969, and after obtaining his MBA, worked in the financial industry for many years before returning full-time to his true passion of art in 1997.   Inspired by the light and color of Provence, the artist is also influenced by the work of Monet, Manet, Matisse and Dufy, and drawn to impressionism and fauvism.

Nasri’s paintings are defined by their emotion, cheerfulness and color, and particularly by their ability to depict graceful movement with a light and spontaneous brush stroke.   His favorite subjects are those that involve movement, including dancers, orchestras, cafes, boats, toreadors, carousels and horses.  A great romantic, Nasri also loves to show couples in love, whether dancing together or huddled and touching in a café.

Although his paintings are full of movement, the artist is a calm and gentle man, who seems to take life as it is, looking at the positive and avoiding confrontation and pressure. Nasri has received his share of positive press in the French newspapers, including the following translated from French:  “Georges Nasri is inspired by everything that erupts with movement and joy, everything that can make you forget daily life.”  La Provence, 1998. Or the following reference to Cezanne and Nasri in the same sentence of La Provence Liberee, January 2001, “What is it about the City of Aix that gives us such great artists?” Whatever the answer, Atlantans seem to agree with the sentiment, as Nasri’s work has been enormously successful in this city too.
