Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1967, Lorraine Christie is a classically trained artist, who prefers to say that she is self taught as it has taken her years of living to develop her constantly evolving art. Noted for her still-life paintings in luscious oils, Christie's success started in her native Ireland and has spread world-wide, with her works included in many private and corporate collections in Europe, the U.S., Japan and the Republic of South Africa.

Lorraine Christe is the artist whose mesmerizing work unabashedly examines love. Tinged with a delicate poignancy, Christie's paintings are all about the relationships between the people -- and the yearnings and misunderstandings that love always brings. Christie begins a painting the way most artists finish one: by naming it. (We've always loved her evocative titles that set the stage for the painting.) A master of composition, color and light, Christie paints her mysterious figures in such a way that leaves the viewer curious: Are they in love? Are they breaking up? How long has he loved her? Does she know? With her trademark jolts of bright yellow, red or orange, these wonderful paintings spark many a conversation -- or quiet reflection of the viewer's own loves.

Artist's Biography
As you peruse Lorraine Christie’s art, you can’t help being struck by this artist’s astounding range of talent. You may be drawn in to her landscapes, where there is warm glow of light on the fields, and a delicate but spontaneous use of brushwork. In her nudes, the use of light, shadow, texture and color combine to produce warm and inviting paintings that are approachable, sophisticated and very beautiful. Her still-life paintings are handsome compositions of luscious fruits, flowers, vases, and table cloths, strikingly lit and randomly arranged as if caught off guard, capturing a moment in time. And then she has a new series that is just plain fun: Dog lovers, chasing after their beloved best friends. People caught in the rain. Silhouettes dancing in a wet glow. These paintings evoke a sense of mischievous joy … or is it simply that we welcome this artist’s quick wit and irreverent sense of humor which is conveyed on canvas as well as in person?
Lorraine Christie is charming and delightful. She was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and has had years of success in her home land, where several galleries represent her work. The artist has also had high profile international exhibitions including three shows at the W.H. Patterson Gallery in London’s Mayfair District. She has exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, Jorgenson Gallery, Dublin Belfast Castle in Northern Ireland and to date she has had four sell out shows in Dallas, Texas. Her works are included in many private and corporate collections across the world. Most recently, two of her works were purchased by The Ulster Museum and Queens University.
In the artist’s words: "I dearly wish to leave my mark on the world. I can only hope that the viewer can catch a glimpse of the world as I see it... rich with color and quality.”
