PASCAL BOUTERIN

Le Fox, Sold
We are thrilled to be hosting a solo show for Pascal Bouterin, called "Bouterin in Atlanta"  which opens on Thursday, March 27th at 6 p.m.  We will be showing all new work, with a broad range from 4" x 4" exquisite and delicate watercolors to  4' x 4' majestic oils.  This is the culmination of several months of work by Pascal, much of it done here in Atlanta.    As always, we have valued our time with this remarkable and talented artist and are excited to share the fruits of his labor with an already admiring clientele.

Pascal Bouterin (b. 1977) is a young French artist who is also an accomplished jazz musician.  He paints primarily in oils, applied with a knife, and in pastels, with pen and ink and pencil.  His canvases often invoke a musical quality with people resembling notes on a page.  His landscapes are reminiscent of Turner, with their dreamy ethereal quality and subtle but powerful use of color.

Artist's Biography

Bouterin is an artist to watch.  He is in his late 20’s but he has already had considerable success.  He has been showing in galleries in Avignon and Lyon, France.  In 2003, the artist exhibited at a show in N.Y. and sold out completely.  In November 2004 and then again in May 2005, he exhibited at the “Foire des Beaux Arts” in Paris, and sold over 30 paintings at each show.  His work grabs people’s attention because it is elegant, unique and refined.  His oils are luscious and deep.  His use of mixed media is often spontaneous and light, with precise little strokes.  And overall, there is always a mysterious quality to his subjects and paintings that is haunting and beautiful.

This gentle artist is tall, modest and shy and paints to the sounds of wonderful jazz music, which is his other passion.   Bouterin grew up in his grandfather’s house near St. Remy de Provence and his paintings are usually infused with the light and beauty of the surroundings that influenced him early on.  He has an optimistic view of life, and people often comment on the calming and soothing effect of his paintings.

We feel privileged to have seen a lot of Pascal this past year especially, as he has spent several months in Atlanta, frequently painting out of the gallery.  We witnessed first hand this artist's dedication to his art, the long hours put in at the easel, the struggle with new sizes, formats, paints and boards, and the desire to grow in new directions balanced by the popularity of his current work among American collectors.  He has been thrilled with his warm welcome in Atlanta and we are delighted that he is now back with us for a few months, painting in larger formats.

We had a fabulous and festive time at the Gallery on February 9th for an evening of "Cabaret and Cabernet,"  featuring Pascal Bouterin and his jazz band.  Many of you know that our beloved artist from France is also a talented jazz musician.  We were so excited to have perform in a benefit concert joined by his fellow musicians Victoria Mc Ginnis, Vocals, Sylvain Ternimiello, Bass,  and Romain Simeray, Guitar.   Click here for pictures of the event.

The wine, nibbles and entertainment were on us.  But as part of our "Arts supporting Arts" program, we did, and continue to, gratefully accept donations for another local arts organization that is near and dear to our hearts, Georgia Shakespeare.
